We have approached Week 13 of the NFL season. Those of you in 6 team playoff format leagues, may very well be approaching the final week of your fantasy regular season. If you are lucky enough to have clinched a playoff spot, then you are probably at ease. If you are one of those unfortunate few who did not listen to us through the year, or just fell victim to the injury bug, then you may be bummed out. However, if you are on the outside bubble looking in, or on the inside bubble that's threatening to pop, then this is a very important week for you. So lets begin the preview by taking a look at the first game of this critical week 13, this Thursday night in Philly.
Apparently, throwing UFC style over the top punched that land on the jaw of your victim, get you fined a substantial amount in the NFL, yet they do not get you suspended. Perhaps we can call this the Andre Johnson rule. Though his owners are more then pleased with the news, I am sure that fans of the Philadelphia Eagles are not. That being said, they have to be pleased with the fact that the leagues worst passing defense is coming to town on Thursday night. Mike Vick once again finds himself at the top of our FFCPI, as do most quarterbacks facing the Texans. He is coming off of a loss, in which he threw one of the better passes you will see to tight end Brent Celek in triple coverage that resulted in a touchdown. Look for Vick to have another dominant game at home Thursday night. By that same logic, all Desean Jackson owners should be salivating, as he is our top Wide Receiver for the week, and should be getting plenty of long looks down field. It almost feels like this match-up for Philadelphia has the makings of a repeat Monday Night performance from Washington a few weeks ago. If the passing game gets going early, then the running game should do the time controlling damage later on, which is why Lesean Mccoy is in our top ten starts for the week at Running Back. He will also be lethal in PPR leagues, as Vick may dump off to him plenty of times in the slot.
Big shutout victory for the Texans on Sunday, surrounded by the controversy of the Andre Johnson fight. That being said, don't look to deep into it. Keep in mind they were going up against a 3rd string rookie quarterback, who had absolutely no sense of flow or communication with any of his wide receivers. That will be completely different on Thursday night. If the Texans trail most of the game, the way we think they will, then look for them to throw often. It'll be a tough play against a steady Eagles secondary, so Arian Foster will be a large part of Houston's gameplan. We have him as or 2nd best Running Back play of the week. It'll be a tough play for the Texans passing game against a physical Eagles defense, but if Asante Samuel is out again, we may see similar coverage that allowed Jay Cutler to toss four TDs in Week 12.
GOOD START: Mike Vick, Desean Jackson, Lesean Mccoy, Jeremy Maclin, Arian Foster, Andre Johnson
MIDDLE OF THE ROAD: Brent Celek, Matt Schaub, Jason Avant
BAD START: Joel Dreesen
