In a week where we saw the New England Patriots run the ball on the New York Jets, Calvin Johnson only catch one touchdown pass, and Pierre Garcon catch two, this week in Fantasy Football will be tumultuous. And after reading this, you should be in great shape to take advantage of your opponents. This article will be split into two parts, one being players you should 'Sell High,' or players that have performed well but are due for a drop off. The other part, 'Buy Low,' will give you players that have underperformed and may be available for pickup.
Sell High:
BenJarvus Green-Ellis, RB, New England Patriots
BJGE just had a career game against the rival New York Jets, and you should attempt to exploit the good feelings people have now for him. Put your feelers out, see if you can steal a better running back or wide receiver that has had a poor start. (Chris Johnson, Ahmad Bradshaw, Maurice Jones-Drew, Larry Fitzgerald)
Eric Decker & Brandon Lloyd, WRs, Denver Broncos
You could say that I'm not on the Tebow bandwagon just yet. Decker has been a top 15 receiver this year, and Lloyd was a top five receiver last year. But both will be inconsistent until the quarterback situation in Denver is resolved. Lloyd has more potential than Decker, but don't trust either to get big points for you.
Eli Manning,QB, and
Victor Cruz, WR, New York Giants
Tom Coughlin is a smash mouth coach, so you know 83.8 yards rushing per game won't get it done under his regime. With more of a focus on the running game in the coming weeks, look for Manning and Cruz to see a decrease in production. Manning should be an easy trade, with higher profile quarterbacks such as Philip Rivers struggling. Cruz has had better stats than Steve Johnson, Roddy White, and Dez Bryant. (All of which you should trade Cruz for, given the chance)
Buy Low:
Miles Austin, WR, Dallas Cowboys
Injuries have held Austin out for the Cowboys' past two games. Coming off a bye, owners might be willing to get rid of him, seeing as he hasn't produced since a monster week 2 performance. Don't overextend, but Austin has historically been Tony Romo's favorite target.
Anquan Boldin, WR, Baltimore Ravens
This may be a stretch, but he is starting to get dropped from teams. A poor week 4 performance is primarily from the corner he was facing, a guy named Darrelle Revis. The Baltimore offense will consistently put together drives with a solid running game, and Boldin will continue to get the most targets out of a shaky receiver core.
Philip Rivers, QB, San Diego Chargers
Rivers has had a poor start to the year, but owners should not panic. And if they do, jump on it. Rivers has put up consistent stats, but nothing like what was expected. Turnovers have plagued his first five weeks, and with a bye week this week, owners may want to make a change.
Depending on the feedback for this article, there may be more to come! These are my personal insights, and by no means are fact. Good luck this week on your quest for a Fantasy Football championship!
