WEEK 9: THE WEEK OF THE PERFECT RATINGS

When Albert Einstein and Pythagoras (the Greek mathematician who came up with a2 + b2 = c2) traveled through time to help me come up with the Running Back Rating Formula, we made sure that achieving a perfect score of 100 wasn’t easy.  This week though, as a result of the NFL’s top running backs going up against poor run defenses, SIX backs have a RB Rating of 100—indicating that they will have an AMAZING fantasy outing.  Who are the Week 9 Super Six?  Read on!

RUNNING BACK RATING =
(Average Rushing Yards Per Game + Average Receiving Yards Per Game + (Average TDs Per Game x 50) + (100 yd. games / games played x 50) + (Carries Previous Week x 2.5) + (Opponent's Average Rushing TDs Allowed Per Game x 20) + Opponent's Average Rush Yards Allowed Per Game) / 4

THE WEEK 9 SUPER SIX
These six running backs earned a perfect running back rating (100).  Expect OUTSTANDING games from each of them.

Matt Forte

Arian Foster

Frank Gore

Fred Jackson

LeSean McCoy

Michael Turner

NEAR PERFECT
Beanie Wells: 99.8
Beanie was 0.2 away from joining the Super Six.

80-89: SOLID RB1s
You can expect good (possibly great) performances from the following players.

Ray Rice: 89.6

Steven Jackson: 88.5

Darren McFadden*: 86.6

60-79: COULD GO EITHER WAY
RB2s
There’s a big drop-off this week after the top ten running backs, especially given the fact that there’s a good chance Ahmad Bradshaw won’t play due to injury.

Ahmad Bradshaw*: 76.2

Cedric Benson: 73.5

Shonn Greene: 73.3

LeGarrette Blount: 71

Darren Sproles: 70.7

BenJarvus Green-Ellis: 68.4

Reggie Bush: 64.5

James Starks: 64.1

Michael Bush: 63.2

Mike Tolbert*: 61.2

50-59: DON’T EXPECT MUCH
These RBs are fine in the flex, but if one of them is in one of your running back spots, you probably aren’t in great shape at RB this week.

Pierre Thomas: 59.3

Peyton Hillis*: 59.2

Marshawn Lynch: 59.1

Knowshon Moreno: 59

Jackie Battle: 56.7

Rashard Mendenhall: 55.7

Chris Johnson: 54.5

DeMarco Murray: 52.9

LESS THAN 50: PROBABLY NOT A GOOD PLAY
I wouldn’t start any of these guys.

Ryan Grant: 49.6

Joseph Addai: 48.2

Delone Carter: 44.3

Ryan Torain: 40.4

NOT ENOUGH DATA: Brandon Jacobs, Chris Ogbonnaya

Time to take a look at how accurate the formula was in predicting RB performance last week!

Happy football, everyone!
