Pickups of the Week
Harry Douglas, WR, Falcons (0.3 percent)
Week 10 stats: 8 rec, 133 yards, 14 Targets
Just when Roddy White owners were rejoicing over Julio Jones' hamstring pull, Douglas steps in and steals all the extra targets that White owners were hoping would go his way. In the unlikely event that Jones is to miss any more time, expect Douglas to step up.
Vincent Brown, WR, Chargers (0.2 percent)
Week 9 stats: 4 rec, 79 yards, 6 Targets
Week 10 stats: 5 rec, 97 yards, 9 Targets, 1 TD
Malcom Floyd's hip will likely keep him out another week, which would make Brown a decent #3 receiving option against Chicago. The Chargers' 2011 third round pick has lived up to his draft day expectations and was the highest targeted Chargers receiver against Oakland. When a receiver leads his team in targets, fantasy owners should take notice. Especially when that receiver's quarterback is Philip Rivers.
Damian Williams, WR, Titans (1.8 percent)
Week 10 stats: 5 rec, 107 yards, 7 Targets, 1 TD
Williams is experiencing a
second-year bump in production and has put together three straight weeks of at least 60 yards or a touchdown. Nate Washington will likely be neutralized by Falcons pro-bowl cornerback Brent Grimes come Sunday, so Matt Hasselbeck will continue to look Williams' way. Williams is a decent #3 wide receiver against Atlanta.
John Skelton, QB, Cardinals (0.0 percent)
Week 9 stats: 20-35, 222 yards, 1 TD, 4 carries, 38 yards
Week 10 stats: 21-40, 315 yards, 3 TDs, 2 INTs, 4 carries, 15 yards
Looks like the Cardinals overpaid about 65 million dollars for Kevin Kolb huh? The Cardinals are 2-0 with Skelton at QB who just threw three touchdowns against one of the better pass defenses in the league. Two straight weeks of at least 17 fantasy points and the Cardinals are still a pass-happy offense. With Skelton winning games, the Cardinals are in no rush to bring Kevin Kolb back.
Earl Bennett, WR, Bears (10.1 percent)
Week 9 stats: 5 rec, 91 yards, 5 Targets, 1 TD
Week 10 stats: 6 rec, 81 yards, 6 Targets
Bennett has been a favorite of Cutler's since their playing days in Vanderbilt and really is the only Bears wide receiver worth owning. His next matchup against the San Diego Chargers isn't favorable, but because Bennett works out of the slot, he likely won't be matched up with cornerback Quentin Jammer. He is a high-end number 3 WR going forward.
Matt Leinart, QB, Texans (0.0 percent)
Very few men have made as much money as Leinart has, without actually having to work for it. When you look at Leinart this way, the guy is a genius. His next few matchups (Jacksonville, Atlanta, Cincinnati) are poor, but not many other quarterbacks on the waiver-wire have as much upside, especially when Andre Johnson comes back.
Titus Young, WR, Lions (2.9 percent)
Week 10 stats: 7 rec, 74 yards, 9 Targets
If Calvin Johnson is to miss any time, Young will be inserted into the lineup. The Lions 2011 second round pick has 140 yards in the last two games and one touchdown. Nate Burleson could find himself matched up with shut down cornerback Chris Gamble, allowing Young to exploit an easier matchup, just like Damian Williams did in week 9 against Carolina when Nate Washington had Gamble on him. Johnson hasn't been ruled out just yet, but if he can't play, Young is a low-end #3 wide receiver.
Jacksonville D/ST (6.9 percent)
5 out of the last 6 defenses the Cleveland Browns have faced have scored double digit fantasy points. Colt McCoy isn't scaring anybody and Jacksonville proved they were capable of handling poor defenses last week against Indianapolis.
How Are They Still Available?
Laurent Robinson, WR, Cowboys (13.0 percent)
Week 9 stats: 5 rec, 32 yards, 5 Targets, 1 TD
Week 10 stats: 3 rec, 72 yards, 3 Targets, 2 TDs
Miles Austin won't be back for at least a couple more weeks which will leave Robinson as the starting #2 WR for an extended period of time. Robinson is averaging 64.75 yards per game and .75 touchdowns in the four games that Austin has missed this year and is a low-end #2 WR against a surprisingly stingy Redskins pass defense.
Jacoby Ford, WR, Raiders (45.3 percent)
Week 9 stats: 5 rec, 105 yards, 6 Targets, 1 TD
Week 10 stats: 1 rec, 41 yards, 2 Targets
Palmer and Ford together have been dynamite together, but Ford's sprained foot could keep him out week 11 against a weak Minnesota Vikings secondary. If he isn't able to play, this next guy will be a must start.
Denarius Moore, WR, Raiders (31.5 percent)
Week 9 stats: 4 rec, 61 yards, 12 Targets
Week 10 stats: 5 rec, 123 yards, 7 Targets, 2 TDs
Raiders tight end Kevin Boss called Moore the best rookie he's ever seen and few teams give up more fantasy points to opposing wide receivers than the Vikings. He is a strong #2 WR should Ford's foot keep him sidelined.
Carson Palmer, QB, Raiders (25.8 percent)
Week 9 stats: 19-35, 332 yards, 3 TDs, 3 INT
Week 10 stats: 14-20, 299 yards, 2 TDs, 1 INT
His arm looks strong, his receivers are talented and he faces a Vikings defense that was ranked 27th against the pass before being throttled by Aaron Rodgers on Monday night. It's been a long time since Palmer has been a fantasy disappointment, hasn't it?
Jake Ballard, TE, Giants (34.9 percent)
Week 9 stats: 4 rec, 67 yards, 7 Targets, 1 TD
Week 10 stats: 3 rec, 35 yards, 4 Targets
Don't be scared by the Bear Pascoe sighting (2 rec, 23 yards), Ballard is still the top tight end for the Giants and will pick up the production soon. He has scored at least 8 points (standard scoring) in four out of the last 6 weeks and the Eagles will be busy trying to contain the Giants wide receiving trio of Nicks, Manningham and Cruz. With the Eagles' eyes elsewhere, Ballard could find himself slipping through the defense for a touchdown.
Brent Celek, TE, Eagles (16.0 percent)
Week 6 stats: 4 rec, 42 yards, 9 Targets, 1 TD
Week 8 stats: 7 rec, 98 yards, 9 Targets, 1 TD
Week 9 stats: 7 rec, 60 yards, 9 Targets
Week 10 stats: 4 rec, 53 yards, 7 Targets
He hasn't found the end-zone the last couple of weeks, but Michael Vick has targeted him plenty. At worst Celek will get 50 yards, but he is a touchdown threat every week.
Ben Tate, RB, Texans (78.6 percent)
Week 9 stats: 12 carries, 115 yards, 1 TD
Week 10 stats: 13 carries, 62 yards, 1 TD
The Texans are on bye for week 11, and their next few opponents are good against the run, but teams with the bench depth to spare should consider holding onto Tate for his week 15 and 16 match-ups (Carolina and Indianapolis).
Antonio Brown, WR, Steelers (54.0 percent owned)
Week 8 stats: 9 rec, 67 yards, 15 Targets, 1 TD
Week 9 stats: 5 rec, 109 yards, 11 Targets
Week 10 stats: 5 rec, 86 yards, 6 Targets
Four solid fantasy weeks in a row for Brown, who has established himself as Ben Roethlisberger's favorite option not named Mike Wallace. Few receivers see more targets and it only is a matter of time before his next touchdown.
Mark Sanchez, QB, Jets 79.4 percent)
Week 7 stats: 18-33, 173 yards, 3 TDs, 1 Int, 3 carries, 25 yards
Week 9 stats: 20-28, 230 yards, 1 TD, 1 INT
Week 10 stats: 20-39, 306 yards, 1 TD, 2 INTs
There's not a defense that gives up more fantasy points to quarterbacks than the Denver Broncos, Sanchez's week 11 opponent. If LaDainian Tomlinson can't suit up on Sunday, then the Jets will be forced to throw near the goal-line. On a related note, Shonn Greene is awful.
Tim Tebow, QB, Broncos (80.9 percent)
Week 8 stats: 18-39, 172 yards, 1 TD, 1 INT, 10 carries, 63 yards
Week 9 stats: 10-21, 124 yards, 2 TDs, 12 carries, 118 yards
Week 10 stats: 2-8, 69 yards, 1 TD, 9 carries, 43 yards, 1 TD
Tebow has faced one quality defense this year (Detroit) and three lousy ones (Miami, Oakland and Kansas City). His next opponent, the New York Jets are better than all of those defenses and will find a way to shut Tebow down. Nevertheless, Tebow hasn't scored less than 16 fantasy points this year and there are few quarterbacks with as much upside.
Fred Davis, TE, Redskins (84.2 percent)
Week 8 stats: 8 rec, 94 yards, 9 Targets
Week 9 stats: 4 rec, 42 yards, 7 Targets
Week 10 stats: 3 rec, 28 yards, 7 Targets
The Cowboys rank 31st against the tight end and despite his recent struggles, Davis is still a top-10 tight end and is one of the highest targeted tight ends in the league.
Eric Decker, WR, Broncos (89.2 percent)
Week 8 stats: 6 rec, 72 yards, 11 Targets, 1 TD
Week 9 stats: 3 rec, 47 yards, 5 Targets, 1 TD
Week 10 stats: 1 rec, 56 yards, 3 Targets
Two completions on the day for Tebow and one of them was a touchdown to Decker. That's what you call lucky... Only Rob Gronkowski and Calvin Johnson have found the end-zone more than Decker has this season. Really Tebow? 8 passes? Decker is the definition of a "sell-high" player.
Greg Olsen, TE, (87.9 percent)
Week 8 stats: 4 rec, 73 yards, 7 Targets, 1 TD
Week 10 stats: 4 rec, 45 yards, 11 Targets
Fantasy owners should be disappointed with Olsen's 45-yard day considering how many times Cam Newton targeted him. Nevertheless, he is still a top-10 tight end and should owned in every league.
You're Dead to Me, Kinda
(Players who you might not necessarily have to drop, but should if there are more worthy waiver wire prospects available. Heck, some of these guys are good players, but that should not stop you from dropping them for guys with more upside, especially if all they do is ride your bench. For example, I'm not saying you should drop Jermichael Finley, but if a player like Laurent Robinson is available and your team could use a wide receiver, I say you do it.)
