Picking your starting running back and wide receivers each week isn’t too much of a challenge. Finding a solid tight end isn’t too tough either. What I have always found to be the toughest call is who to start in that flex spot we all deal with. Do I start my fourth best wide receiver over my third best running back? Should I go with a player that has had a couple of good performances in a row? Should I play two tight ends? To answer these questions each week, we have a new article: Flex Factor.
Flex Factor will provide ten of the best options for the flex play each week. None of the top 25 running backs, top 25 wide receivers, or top 15 tight ends will be included each week. Those ranks will be based off of traditional scoring (One pt per 10 rush/rec yards, six pts per TD). Here are your week 11 Flex Factor picks:
1. David Nelson is the 31
stWR in yahoo scoring this year, but he has scored a TD in each of the last two weeks and has a great matchup against the Dolphins, who rank 25
thin pass defense. Steve Johnson may be out of this game so Nelson could be the top target and have another good day.
2. There is no chance the Cards run against the 49ers this weekend so expect
Early Doucet to see quite a few targets. He has three TDs in his last four games and is the 26
thWR on yahoo. Arizona has won two in a row and nearly had a third after leading the Ravens by 24 points. Don’t be surprised if they make it a game and Doucet is a big part of that.
3. James Jones has been quiet lately and I think this week against the Bucs will be a chance for him to see double-digit fantasy points. Rodgers likes to keep all of his targets happy and the Bucs pass defense is terrible. Jones is 41
ston yahoo, but I think a couple of long receptions could be in store to the tune of over 100 yards and a score.
4. Brandon Lloyd has found new life since joining the Rams and could have a productive week against the Seahawks pass defense. He only ranks as the 34
thWR in the league, but is 13
thover the last four weeks.
5. The last wide receiver this week is
Laurent Robinson. He is the 29
thranked WR this year but is actually second in scoring over the last four weeks. Dallas plays the Redskins and should dominate in all areas of the game. Don’t be surprised if Robinson puts up upwards of 15 fantasy points.
6. James Starks is the 31
stRB on yahoo so far this year and he hasn’t had a double digit performance since week four. But clearly Ryan Grant (eight carries for six yards against the Vikings) is not the answer. The Packers should go up big on Tampa Bay early this week and Starks will get a lot of second half carries against the fourth worst rush defense in the league. Expect a pretty solid day.
7. Jonathan Stewart is averaging under eight ppg this year, but has hit 12 points in two of his last four games and plays the sixth worst rush defense in the league when Carolina visits the Lions. Detroit has a solid pass defense so expect them to put it on the ground often.
8. Why would you want to start the 54
thbest RB in the league? Well,
Maurice Morris is still filling in for Jahvid Best and he has a great match-up against the Panthers at home. Carolina allows the fifth most rushing yards per game. I think Morris can expect at least a dozen points in the flex spot.
9. Brandon Jacobs is the 33
rdRB on yahoo, but he should see the start again this week with Bradshaw still nursing a foot injury. He gets to go up against an average run defense as the Eagles own the 17
thbest run defense, however the Eagles have allowed the sixth most points to running back this season, which is a great sign for Jacobs.
10. I normally don’t like tight ends in the flex spot, but this week
Anthony Fasano is a great flex play. He is probably on waivers as he only ranks as the 23
rdbest TE in the league, however he has a great match-up against the Bills and Miami has won two games in a row. Fasano has averaged 11ppg the last two weeks and seems to be a favorite target for Matt Moore.
While this list isn’t all inclusive, it will hopefully give you an edge in some tough calls this week. Have a suggestion for the list or a question specific to your team? Just post it below!
