Fantasy Impact Injury Report

This is a recap of the warriors who were injured on the gridiron battlefield of Week 15.

QUARTERBACKS

Sam Bradford, St. Louis Rams – Bradford was unable to play in Week 15, and there is belief his sprained ankle may keep him out of the remaining two games as well.
FANTASY IMPACT: Bradford noted that the injury is putting more pressure on his arm, and it does make sense to shut him down with St. Louis a dismal 2-12 on the campaign. Between A.J. Feeley and Kellen Clemens, neither would be a recommended fantasy option in Championship Week 16.

RUNNING BACKS

Shonn Greene, New York Jets – Injured his pinky during Sunday’s outing vs. Philadelphia.
FANTASY IMPACT: Greene was able to finish the game, and the injury looks to be minor. He should be ready to go for a good match-up against the Giants in Week 16.

Willis McGahee, Denver Broncos – Was bothered by a hamstring injury in Denver’s loss to New England.
FANTASY IMPACT: McGahee dealt with a hamstring injury earlier in the season, but did not miss any games because of it. But Lance Ball would get a boost in fantasy value if the 30-year-old vet is not deemed fit for Week 16 in a soft match-up at Buffalo.

Delone Carter, Indianapolis Colts – Sustained a forearm injury in Sunday’s win over Tennessee.
FANTASY IMPACT: Carter was not a factor in Indy’s backfield as he hasn’t reached at least 25 rushing yards since Week 8, and Donald Brown and Joseph Addai will continue to carry the bulk of the workload regardless of whether the rookie is able to go in Week 16 vs. Houston.

WIDE RECEIVERS

A.J. Green, Cincinnati Bengals – Suffered a sprained shoulder in Sunday’s win over St. Louis.
FANTASY IMPACT: It is a Grade 3 sprain, but Green doesn’t expect it to be an issue and vows to definitely play in the final two games of the regular season with the Bengals, who remain in the playoff race at 8-6.

DeSean Jackson, Philadelphia Eagles – Sustained an elbow contusion in Sunday’s win over the Jets.
FANTASY IMPACT: So it was merely a bruise and the speed demon was able to return and finish the contest. Jackson should be good to go for Week 16 at Dallas.

Steve Johnson, Buffalo Bills – Was forced out of action by a groin injury late in Sunday’s loss to Miami.
FANTASY IMPACT: Johnson aggravated an injury he was dealing with for most of the campaign. David Nelson and Brad Smith would likely be in store for more targets if the star receiver is unable to go in Week 16 vs. Denver.

Johnny Knox, Chicago Bears – Was carted off the field after taking a devastating hit in Sunday’s loss to Seattle.
FANTASY IMPACT: Knox will need to undergo surgery to stabilize a vertebra in his back, but his outlook appears to be good as he was able to move his extremities. Earl Bennett could inherit more targets going forward in Knox’s absence.

Mike Williams, Seattle Seahawks – Went down with a fractured ankle and fibula in Sunday’s win over Chicago.
FANTASY IMPACT: Williams was a pleasant surprise in 2010, but now won’t be missed in fantasy leagues as he hasn’t reached 50 yards since Week 11 and hasn’t found the end zone since Week 4.

TIGHT ENDS

Jake Ballard, New York Giants – Went down with a sprained knee in Sunday’s loss to Washington.
FANTASY IMPACT: The severity of the injury is yet to be determined. He has been having a solid campaign with 604 yards and four touchdowns.

KICKERS

The injury bug was kind to kickers this week.

DEFENSIVE LINEMEN

Andre Carter, New England Patriots – Went down with a quad injury in Sunday’s victory at Denver.
FANTASY IMPACT: The injury looks to be serious, as it is initially believed that Carter will need surgery. His absence would be a major blow to New England’s defense as he leads the club with 10 sacks, to go along with 52 tackles.

Marcel Dareus, Buffalo Bills – Suffered a left hand injury in Sunday’s loss to Miami.
FANTASY IMPACT: Dareus will undergo an MRI Monday to gauge the severity of the injury. Buffalo’s 29th ranked run defense looks to be even more unstable if the prized rookie is unable to go in Week 16 vs. Denver.

LINEBACKERS

Travis LaBoy, San Diego Chargers – Sustained a knee injury in Sunday’s big win over Baltimore.
FANTASY IMPACT: With just 38 tackles and one sack on the campaign, LaBoy would not be missed in IDP leagues if unable to go in Week 16 at Detroit.

DEFENSIVE BACKS

Charles Godfrey, Carolina Panthers – Suffered a shoulder injury in Sunday’s win at Houston.
FANTASY IMPACT: Godfrey was averaging 7.5 tackles over his previous six outings, and would be missed by IDP owners if unable to go in Week 16 against Tampa Bay. And Jordan Pugh is not a worthy replacement at strong safety in Carolina’s secondary.

Asante Samuel, Philadelphia Eagles – Sustained a strained right hamstring in Sunday’s win over the Jets.
FANTASY IMPACT: Samuel is slated for an MRI Monday, but it is initially believed the injury is minor.
