Detroit Lions @ San Francisco 49ers

A game being called the "handshake bowl", Jim Schwartz vs. Jim Harbaugh round 2!

Postgame fireworks will only be the exclamation point on a game that is sure to be thrilling.Megatron

The Detroit Lions (1-0) have one of the most prolific offenses in the league. Weapons surround Matthew Stafford with the potential to blow up at any moment.

Matthew Stafford was a little of his game last week with three interceptions and only one touchdown.

The yardage was there however (355).

This week's matchup is scary against the No. 1 defense in the league, this does not change his must-start status, however.

Kevin Smith had a good game a week ago but simply put, he is playing the 49ers.

You don't play running backs facing the 49ers. Especially if the ratio of pass to run is 48:18 once again.

Calvin Johnson sat out Wednesday's practice but returned Thursday and Friday, another must-start.

Titus Young is inconsistent and you don't want to play him in this matchup. Nate Burleson is a desperation play at this point and with no bye weeks yet you should not be in desperation mode -- if you are, there's always next year.

Brandon Pettigrew showed why we like him here. Although he missed a couple balls he probably should have caught, Pettigrew's targets (10) and final stats were encouraging (5-77).

Good starts: Calvin Johnson, Matthew Stafford, Brandon Pettigrew

Middle of the road: Titus Young

Bad starts: Nate Burleson, Tony Scheffler

Vernon DavisThe San Francisco 49ers (1-0) marched into Lambeau field last Sunday night and beat the Green Bay Packers.

A big win for the confidence of this 49ers team.

Alex Smith knows what he needs to do week in and week out to get the 49ers a win.

Smith could have a good game against the Lions but much like last season don't expect 300 yards.

Frank Gore needed only 16 carries to eclipse the 100-yard mark last week.

Here's a little nugget for you, Frank Gore averages more yards per game against the Detroit Lions than any other NFL team. You're welcome.

Kendall Hunter was also impressive and is worth a look if you need a desperation flex play.

Michael Crabtree is on the verge of a breakout season and if you are in a PPR league you need to consider him as a weekly start.

Randy Moss is a red zone target for the 49ers but doesn't play between the 20's as much. If you are fine with hoping for touchdowns, then Moss is your man, but I suggest not.

Vernon Davis is an elite tight end and always a mismatch for defenses. This week is no different, play him.

Good Starts: Frank Gore, Vernon Davis

Middle of the road: Alex Smith, Randy Moss, Michael Crabtree

Bad starts: Kendall Hunter
