Jonathan Stewart Signs Five-Year Extension With Panthers

August 12 01:15 AM

The Panthers have committed long-term to running back Jonathan Stewart. They signed the back to a new five-year, $36.5 million contract extension on Saturday.

Fantasy Spin:
Stewart is still likely to split carries with DeAngelo Williams in 2012 but after the season, it looks like he'll have the starting halfback position all to himself. Stewart is a dual threat as a rusher and a receiver and we'd be surprised if he doesn't reach 1,000 yards from scrimmage again this year.
