Jaguars Prefer Montell Owens in Special Teams Role

December 27 11:47 AM

The Florida Times Union reports that the Jaguars would prefer to keep fullback Montell Owens on special teams next season instead of using him as the starting running back.

Fantasy Spin:
Owens has been decent enough filling in for Maurice Jones-Drew, Rashad Jennings and Jalen Parmele the past few weeks (60 rushing yards per game on 5.1 yards per carry) but the Jacksonville coaching staff believes he'd be better utilized as a stud special teamer. Jones-Drew is expected to leave after the season so the running back job in Jacksonville next season would appear to be up for grabs.
