February 02 03:43 PM According to the Washington Post, Redskins running back Clinton Portis "definitely expects to be back with the Redskins and to be fully healthy" for the 2010 campaign. The article goes on to note that Portis has yet to be medically cleared for "football activities," however, despite being nearly three months removed from the concussion that ended his season. Portis is still only 28 years old, but "football people" are quietly beginning to question how much he has left in the tank. Declining production, a huge cap number, and locker room unrest will all be factored into the team's decision this offseason regarding his future with the franchise. With the uncertainty swirling around Clinton, the Redskins' offensive line, and the vision of new head coach Mike Shanahan (who is notoriously fickle when it comes to his running back du jour), Portis is quickly becoming a fantasy afterthought. |
